Music is a universal language that has brought the masses together for centuries. It makes us dance, cry, shout, and think. Music has this amazing ability to fuse fantasy with reality. It has the ability to distort what's good and what just feels good. It can be sneaky. But hey, as long as it has a good message, it gets heavy rotation in my phone. I listen to a variety of music because not all music is bad. But if you're not paying attention, you can recite lyrics that are no good for you. I've been out of the loop lately, but most music lovers know that one of the hottest albums of 2017 was Sza's Ctrl  album .  Everyone was singing, "Why you bother me when you know you don't want me?" as if they would get a solid answer.  And then, here comes  The Weekend. It seemed like  Love Galore was   the prelude to that song, asking, "Why you bother me when you know you got a woman?" I thought, "Oh, Lord. Here goes another side chick anthem." ...

At second glance, I look at it and agree that this topic needs to be discussed more in church. Especially, for those who are just starting out in their walk. For the most part, as singles, we know what we aren't supposed to be doing. And we SHOULDN'T be doing those things, especially if we call ourselves followers of Christ. Sex before marriage is n ot God's way. However, the desire for sex doesn't just vanish into thin air. Even when you don't put yourself in those situations, it seems like most things are sexually charged and right in your face these days. They made a cat food commercial sexual, for crying out loud! Anyway, the young lady may have the right motive and wrong method or vice versa. I'm not sure. Hopefully, she's sending out the right message. Parents have traded in the old-school rod for a simple 3 minute timeout. It seems as if each generation gets more and more lax when it comes to disciplining children. However, it seems that each generation gets worse and worse. Spankings should always stay around. Here's why: 1) It's biblical.  The Bible says that whoever spares the rod hates their children (Proverbs 13:24). I know, I know...you love your kids. And you would never do anything to hurt them. Dealing with personal issues can be tough. Especially, since dealing with them requires our willingness to be open. Some topics are just easier to discuss than others. Usually, when someone asks us about our insecurities and issues, we tend to only scratch the surface. We cringe at the thought of stripping ourselves of daily ostentations that we call confidence. That kind of exposure requires vulnerability and, quite frankly, being vulnerable is usually the last thing on our list of priorities. For many of us, it's just easier to get into a conversation about someone else. It's almost like hearing about another person's shortcomings can make us feel good about ourselves or give us relief that we're not the only ones with issues. Have you ever asked yourself that question? Sure, society thinks about it at least once a year around Mother’s Day, but do we ever answer it for ourselves? If you ask me, I think a mother is one of the best blessings that a person can have in life.
